ESS IT

IT services for the Department will now be processed through the College of the Environment IT Support (eSITS) system. If you have any questions regarding this transition, please contact .

eSITS-provided services:

  • Computing support for ESS adminsitrative staff
  • Maintenance and support of ESS teaching computer labs
  • A/V support of ESS conference rooms and ESS-controlled classrooms (e.g., JHN 170)
  • Procurement, purchasing, installation, setup, maintenance, and decommissioning of computer systems and peripherals for educational and basic research needs
  • Guidance and access to Hyak and Tillicum high performance computing for research
  • Support of Ricoh photo copiers/printers

eSITS provides limited service of:

  • Linux or mac OS support

eSITS does NOT provide:

  • Poster printing service – Alternative printing services through UW Creative Communications
  • Support of non-eSITS recommended computers and peripherals
  • Support for workstations or servers that are non-compliant (e.g. out-of-date operating system)
  • Response to inquiries outside of normal business hours
  • Replenishment of printer supplies (contact office staff for supplies)
  • Support of non-UW purchased computers (i.e. personal computers)

Submit a Help Request

The College of the Environment IT Support (eSITS) provides computing services to the Department of Earth and Space Sciences. In order to streamline support requests and better serve you, they utilize a support ticket system. Every support request is assigned a unique ticket number which you can use to track the progress and responses online.

Tickets submitted by ESS will generally be assigned to Henry Lui, who will reimain in Johnson Hall to assist our community.
