The Department of Earth and Space Sciences (ESS) may, at the discretion of the Chair’s Office, make work spaces available to individuals (faculty [academic, research, affiliate, and adjunct], staff, students, postdocs, visiting scholars, etc.) who are associated with the department but do not have a formal reporting line or affiliation with ESS. This arrangement adds to the academic and research richness of the department community.

All individuals who are assigned workspace (desks, labs, offices, etc.) in an ESS-controlled space are expected to comport themselves by University and ESS Departmental standards of conduct as a condition of using this space, regardless of departmental affiliation. This includes adhering to ESS Community values, cultures, and norms—including all Federal, State, and University codes of conduct applicable to University community members (e.g., the Student Conduct Code, the Faculty Code, EO54, and EO56).

All individuals using ESS workspace are expected to attend departmental trainings which are required for community members, including, but not limited to:

  • Title IX/Bystander intervention
  • Prevention of Sexual Harassment
  • Safety
  • Race & Equity

Individuals who choose not to follow said standards will lose access to ESS workspaces.
