Policy on Summer Quarter Faculty Meetings – Committee-of-the-Whole

During Summer Quarter, if a quorum of voting faculty cannot be assembled to discuss an urgent matter, the available voting faculty will meet and serve as a committee-of-the-whole to review the matter and determine what action should be taken. Any decision will be based on approval by a majority vote of the committee-of-the-whole. Should the decision include the issuing of a ballot on the matter every effort will be made to contact all voting faculty and provide them with the resulting ballot, a copy of the committee-of-the-whole discussion, and copies of any background materials relating to the matter at hand. If the urgency of the matter does not allow time for the issuing of a ballot, the Chair will proceed with the recommended action of the committee-of-the-whole and the faculty will be asked to validate this action at the first meeting where a quorum is present.
